Dr. Steve Neely, Veteran Software Engineering Executive, Joins Ocelot as SVP, Engineering

Neely Brings Deep AI and Software Development Expertise to Ocelot as Company Continues to Expand its Cloud-Based SaaS Suite of AI Products for Higher Ed

BOULDER, CO – Ocelot, the leading provider of artificially intelligent conversational chatbots for colleges and universities, announced today that Dr. Steve Neely, a veteran software engineering executive, has joined the company as SVP, Engineering.

Neely was most recently VP of Engineering at Unsupervised, which built an AI platform based on unsupervised learning — automatically discovering hidden patterns in data sets without requiring human guidance or labelled training data.

Prior to his role at Unsupervised, Neely was an engineering director at Rally Software through its expansion and growth years towards an IPO (NYSE:RALY), managing a staff of 70 engineers. The Rally platform empowers agile software development teams to work more effectively and drive better business results with greater innovation.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Neely on our team,” said Damon Vangelis, Ocelot Founder and CEO. “We are growing rapidly as a company and expanding our technical team. Steve’s experience in building SaaS applications at scale will help us immensely as we meet the growing need for AI software that enables colleges to scale their engagement and advising with students.”

Dr. Neely said: “I am excited to be a part of the mission Ocelot has pursued over the past 17 years — ‘making a better life more accessible.’ I believe we can build on the strong foundation of products the company has developed, to make an even greater impact at colleges. Personally, for me, having taught for a number of years at the university level, I look forward to bringing my experiences building software to Ocelot’s higher education community.”
